Your photos and this tool
This page is about the free Norwood stage checker specifically: the tool you can use without an account. It is short on purpose.
What we take, without an account
To produce an estimate we need two photos and your agreement to them being processed. None of what we keep is tied to a name or an account unless you create one, as the next part explains. Your email address is kept only if you tick the box when you ask for your report.
- Two photos. After the estimate, a re-encoded copy of each is kept, so the Densy team can check how well the estimate reads scalps and make it better.
- The result itself: the stage, or the fact that we could not give you one.
- A scrambled form of your result link, so the link can be recognised without the link itself being stored anywhere.
- A one-day, one-way code worked out from your IP address, used only to count how many checks have been run. It cannot be turned back into your address, and the code for the same address is different tomorrow, so two days of use cannot be linked together.
If you ask for your report by email
After a result you can ask us to email you a report on it. We use the address to send that report.
- If you leave the box unticked, we send the report and do not keep your address.
- If you tick the box, we keep your address, the time you agreed, your language and which check it came from. We use them only to send you 4 short emails, one a day, on how Densy works.
- Each of those emails has a link to stop them. One press and no more are sent.
- If you then create a Densy account in the same browser, the check joins your account and is kept with it, also after the link expires, until you delete the account. It is never matched to you by your email address.
What happens to your photos
We keep a copy of your two photos, so the Densy team can see what the estimate was given and improve it. If you ask for the report by email or create an account, the copy is linked to that email or account.
Your photos are also sent to an AI provider, which processes them to produce the result, and we ask that provider not to retain them.
Before a photo leaves us it is re-encoded, which removes the hidden information cameras attach, including the location most phones record in a photo by default.
How long anything lasts
- The photos are kept until the Densy team deletes them. You can ask for that at any time with your result link, using the contact route below.
- The result is kept until its link expires, and is then deleted by a job that runs every hour. While its photos are still kept, the result stays with them, but the link stops working all the same.
- The counting code is deleted along with the day it belongs to. It has no use after that day.
Your result link is the only key
- Anyone holding the link can open the result. There is no password and no account in front of it, so posting it publicly publishes the result.
- When it expires the link simply stops working, and the result is deleted, unless it has joined a Densy account.
- An expired link and a link that never existed give the same answer, so nobody can tell a real one from a guess.
What you can ask for, with no account
Data-protection law gives you rights over information about you. Using this tool without an account changes what those rights can practically reach, so here it is plainly rather than by pointing you at a member process that does not apply to you.
- The result is deleted when its link expires, and there is no account to close. To have your photos deleted sooner, send us your result link and we delete them.
- Your result is at your link, and that link is the whole of what we hold about the check. We cannot look it up from a name, and from an email address only if you ticked the box for the 4 emails.
- If you ticked that box, the link in any of those emails stops them.
- You can stop at any point before submitting. Nothing is sent anywhere until you send the photos.
If you want to raise something about this tool, the contact route in the main Densy privacy policy applies here too.
Where the processing happens
The AI provider that produces the estimate operates outside the European Economic Area, so your photos are processed outside it. The arrangements that apply to Densy's providers are described in the main privacy policy.
The rest of Densy
This page is only about the free checker. Everything else, such as accounts, scans, payments and email, is covered by the main policy.
